L'Arrière-Pays
Jacques Nolot

After a ten year abscence, Jacques Pruez, fifty, single and an actor of supporting roles, returns to his village, to be with his dying mother. He stys with his aunts Aimée and Jeofrette, and in this way catches up on all the village gossip. Yvan, his father, "the hairdresser for young and old" counts on his "successful son" to look after him in his retirement. He doesn't believe that his wife is sick, but rather that the doctors are slowly killing her. His brother Alain, a policeman from Bordeaux, argues about the old man's future, but does not want to look after him at all.A prisoner of the village, his memories and childwood, Jacques relives the moments that made him so different.
