In L'An 01, flying over France, the world seems to come to a stop. "L'An 01 was one of the least expensive French films to produce. After a request published in the weekly Charlie Hebdo, two hundred and fifty readers offered to lodge the film team and participate in the filming process. The team's only professional members were Romain Bouteille, the Chêne Noir theatre group, the Aquarium theatre group, and the singer François Béranger. Alain Resnais and Jean Rouch filmed for free, the former the crash on Wall Street in New York, the latter the bra-shortage scene in Dahomey." (A. Bercoff) L'an 01 was Jacques Doillon's first feature-length film.
