In Marseille, Leïla runs a grocery store and raises her only son, Nabil, by herself. Their life unfolds peacefully, at the pace of the games they invent for each other. But Leïla no longer wants this life. She stops paying her suppliers and starts down a dangerous path, taking Nabil down it with her.

Samia Meskaldji was born in 1971. After studying English in College, she obtained a degree in ethnology and anthropology. She directed a documentary on an LEP class in Seine Saint-Denis, at the same time continuing her diverse writing efforts. In 1999, she devoted herself to the writing of her first short-film screenplay and obtained aid from the CNC, as well as a pre-purchase from France 2. La voie lente is her first film as a director.
