Valérie Mréjen was born in 1969 in Paris, and studied Art in Cergy-Pontoise. Videographer and writer, starting in 1997 she directed a large number of 1 to 4 minute video films that were shown in Angers as part of the "New images" selection in 2000 and 2001. La défaite du rouge-gorge is an adaptation of her latest novel, "L'agrume", and is her first non-video short film.
