EFrance today. Powerless, the little Mimi witnesses her mother's attempt to commit suicide. The next day, while her mother is slowly recovering in the hospital, Mimi goes with her aunt Solange to the latter's council flat. Because Solange does not want the apartment messed up, she puts Mimi in a corner, close to the door. Jean-Pierre, Solange's fiancé, arrives and disturbs Mimi's sleep from the very first night.

LLucile Hadzihalilovic was born in France in 1961. She studied Art History before attending the I.D.H.E.C. She worked as an editor on documentaries and films, and produced several shorts among which is Carne by Gaspar Noé. In 1988, she directed a short: La première mort de Nono.
