Andràs Salamon had his first experience as an actor when he was eight years old. He later studied photography and worked as a cameraman. Though he began studies at the Hungarian Academy of Cinema, he gave them up to write scripts. In 1991, he directed his first feature-length film, "Zsömen" (unreleased in France), followed by numerous documentaries. Additionally, he published a book in 1996, "The Dogs Can't Forget", which he later turned into the film entitled "Közel a szerelemhez".
