In post-troubles Belfast, the politically-conscious rap trio Kneecap emerges, paving the way for a resurgence of the Irish language against the established order. Describing themselves as "low-life scum", Liam Óg and Naoise, accompanied by JJ, a teacher, become a political symbol and the rebel voice of Irish youth in turmoil.

Rich Peppiatt is an Irish-British director, writer and producer. After working as a journalist and stand-up comedian, he became a scriptwriter for the parody series Supershoppers. In 2014 he co-directed the documentary One Rogue Reporter. In 2024, he directed Kneecap, which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival before being chosen to represent Ireland at the Oscars.
