Three generations of the same family live through the four seasons of the year in a little lost town in Turkey. In the winter, a little eleven year old girl has difficulties in adapting to her environment and discovers shame. In the spring, the little girl and her younger brother explore the awakening nature. In the summer, the adults stay up late around a bonfire in a field. While the children fight against sleep, the grandfather recounts his war experiences, his deportation to India by the British and his survival despite everything. His faith is in contrast to his rational son, who's the only educated member of the family. As for cousin Saffet, he came back from his military service a long time ago, but has still to find his way. Autumn's here: and time for a member of the family to leave.
