Born in 1970, Ivailo Simidchiev is a student of "Krustyio Sarafov", the national academy of theatre and cinema. "Kal" is his graduation film. He is the CILECT prizewinner of the Festival of Filmschools in Munich 1997, and thereby a special guest of Premiers Plans Festival.
