Born to a French father and a Finnish mother, Mikael Marignac has always been caught between two languages, two cultures, and two climates. The idea of the film came to his mind while he was working as an assistant nurse in a mental institution. Mikael studied cinema both in France and Sweden. For his first film, his main sources of inspiration are the work of northern directors such as Ingmar Bergman, Carl Th. Dreyer and Aki Kaurismäki.
