Five stories of the abduction and detention of Eastern-European and African women, told in the first person by a customs officer, a door-to-door saleswoman, a nightclub director, a diplomat and a taxi driver. Stories of false promises, debts, coercion and violence – such are the mechanisms underlying women-trafficking networks.

Anja Salomonowitz studied cinema at the Vienna Filmakademie then at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen. Her work explores the boundaries between fiction and documentary. She has already made several shorts and video installations, particularly Das wirst du nie verstehen (2003) which was awarded the "Regards Neufs" prize at the Visions du Réel Festival in Nyon. Kurz davor ist es passiert is her first feature and has been shown in several festivals.
