Last but not least, very important: Balibar. It is a privilege reserved for the greatest actors and actresses to have their names equalling the director’s. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is as much a Marilyn Monroe film as it is a Howard Hawks one. Here, Jeanne Balibar, with her outstanding presence in the role of Annie, experiments with something of this kind: a Balibar-film, going right to the heart of the role, with the perplexities of the body and the scepticisms of the soul, and without any kind of performance blackmail. In short, it is a film on a woman who smokes, drinks and kisses sick men. In other words, essential. (Gérard Lefort; Libération)
