Mari Rantasila
Greippi's parents are both making careers for themselves, working long hours, and leaving their own child neglected. At her best friend's house, Greippi sees how well her parents care for their daughter. Desperate, she seeks solace with her friend's family, but finds no understanding there either.

Mari Rantasila was born in 1963. She acted in numerous plays and held lead roles in several television series. She has also acted in Finnish feature-films, including a film directed by Aki Kaurismaki. Before directing Greippi, Rantasila made two films on video: Katariina's home and Emmi's home. She is currently working on an hour-long film that will also be produced by Kinotar.
