Dr. Paul J. Stekler, currently the chair of the University of Texas' Radio-Television-Film department, has been making documentaries about American politics for 30 years. Before becoming a filmmaker, Dr. Stekler received his doctorate degree in Government from Harvard University, and started his career as a political pollster in Louisiana before becoming a filmmaker. His films capture how America's political races often embody the country's aspirational nature, as well as the struggle to uphold democracy. Stekler's films have won major journalism and festival awards in the United States, from the Peabodys and Emmys to the Sundance Film Festival. Paul J. Stekler will be presenting two programs at Premiers Plans, both of which offer a look at the vast political challenges facing the United States today
