The protagonist of Jan Erik Nõgisto's and KatrinMaimik's film Foto is a woman called Maarit who is in her thirties and lives with her spiteful and manipulative father. Maarit devotes all her time and energy to taking care of her disabled father which has prevented her from leading a normal life of a young woman. She has not forged any serious relationships with the opposite sex and she has no children. However, the biological clock is ticking ruthlessly. One day, Maarit meets a 9-year-old boy called Rainer. The twodevelop a strangerelationship.

Jan Erik Nõgistostarted his career with TV shows, after which he swiched to directing ads, music videos and short films in a production firm Kuukulgur Film. Since than he has directed several internationally acclaimed advertizing projects. Katrin is a director and screenwriter, who graduated from Tartu University in theatre theory in 2005 and MA at the Tallinn University's Baltic Film and Media School in scriptwriting.
