Sergey Kavtaradze was born 1977. In 1994 he entered the Moscow State University (MGU), which he graduated from in 2002 with a degree in historic sciences. In 2005 he joined the Higher Director's & Screenwriter's School in Moscow, in the directing section, and the workshop of Kverikadze & Dobrovolski, which he successfully graduated from in 2007. He is the author of the book Political Conflict in the Post-Soviet Area (2005). Gar' is his graduation film.
