Fahrenheit 451
François Truffaut

In an unspecified country, at an unspecified time, reading is strictly forbidden on the pretext that it stops people from being happy. The sole mission of the fire brigade is to track down people who own books and reduce them to ash. Guy Montag, a zealous fireman and citizen who respects institutions, meets Clarisse a young teacher who makes his doubt his function. Little by little, he is won over by the love of books.

Although Truffaut had reservations about the final result, Ray Bradbury, on the other hand, was thrilled and said on leaving a screening: "How rare it is for a writer to go into a cinema and see their own novel adapted onto the screen so faithfully and captivatingly. Truffaut gave me a new artistic form for my work, preserving the original spirit. I am deeply grateful".
