Kike Maíllo was born on 3 June 1975 in Barcelona. After starting cinema studies in 1994 at ESCAC (the Catalonia Cinema and Audiovisual School), he made his short film Las cabras de Freud in 1999. In 2000, he began his career as a director of commercials and also made several video clips. That same year Kike Maíllo started teaching scriptwriting and directing at ESCAC. In 2003 he wrote and directed his 2nd short, Los perros de Pavlov. Eva is his first feature. "The idea for this project took seed a very long time ago, when I was about 11. One afternoon, after watching an episode of "Dr Who", where there were a lot of Daleks, I started making robots with everything I could find about the house: cardboard boxes, pencils, cardboard tubes, etc. [...]. When I finished studying at ESCAC I liked stories more than machines, but I still dreamed of making a film involving fantasy and science fiction."
