Set at the dawn of time when prehistoric creatures and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, a caveman named Dug, along with his pet sidekick Hognob and Goona, unites his tribe to save their valley home when it is claimed by Lord Nooth and his Bronze Age City.

Nick Park has worked in claymation since his graduation film, A Grand Day Out, the first episode of the adventures of Wallace and Gromit, which won the audience award at the 2nd Festival Premiers Plans in 1990 and was hugely successful around the world. Park paved the way for a whole new generation of British animators with Aardman Studios. With the following adventures of these two heroes he won 3 Oscars: one for The Wrong Trousers in 1993, another for A Close Shave in 1995, and a third for Wallace and Gromit: the Curse of the Were-Rabbit in 2005. In 2000, Nick Park co-directed Chicken Run with Peter Lord.
