Learning. The most beautiful thing in life, what leads us and carries us with it, changes us and makes us grow, makes us better in the absolute and in our chosen professions... From the ABCs to the leap into the void, Nicolas Philibert follows a class at the IFSI nurse training college in Montreuil over the course of three years. He doesn’t choose characters (the overwhelming majority of whom are women: nursing still has a very feminine association), but rather strong, funny, poignant moments. Because along with the gestures come feelings, the fear of doing the wrong thing and of doing harm, the difficulty of touching the other person in the truest sense of the word, the shyness, the powerlessness in the face of suffering... All these emotions, these questioning eyes, these movements give the film its strength and its ambition, because beyond the portraits of nurses, De chaque instant (Each and Every Moment) (what a beautiful title!) is also a vibrant portrait of young generation that has envision and committed itself to caring for others and giving of itself. Beyond its captivating dive into a world of which we know only the tip of the iceberg, the film also carries a dose of hope. (Isabelle Danel; bande-a-part.fr)
