Die Mediocren
Matthias Glasner

Either the operation 2 men, 2 women and the profusion of combinaitions. Or four brains constantly looking at questions such as : how can you get in the Guiness Book of Records ? What is the perfect size for the male genitalia ? What time doe's Mac Donald's close ? Or four intellectuals in the west of Germany, four little lives, nobodies ready to do anything to become somebody, except for clean living, clean thinking...Germans. In this harmony of mediocrity, a blemish appears, a blot on the happy landscapewhich takes the form of suspicion. And in the middle of the kitchen, between the sheets, on the back seat, a silent, blond boy watches the words, sex and meannes unfurl. After 1945, the German cinema tried to forget its history. Later, it tried to understand how it could dare to forget. Today, with Matthias Glasner, it is over trying to find its origin and have chosen to look to the future. "Cousins of a simple Man" Hal Hartley's, "Die Mediocren" do not contradict the formula "happiness is not all fun". But it does convince us that melancholy can be very happy.
