Benedek Fliegauf was born in Budapest in 1974. After working as a stage designer at the Studio Theatre "Hét Tükör", he started working as assistant director for filmmakers such as Miklós Jancsó et Árpád Sopsits. In 2001, he founded the art, writing, and music collective Raptors' Kollektíva. In 2003, following the success of his short films Beszélö fejek (Talking Heads), Hypnos, Van élet a halál elött? (Is there life before death?), he made his first feature film Rengeteg (Forest).
