Yvonne Nguyen, a young woman of Vietnamese origin, dreams of a career in musical theatre, much to the despair of her mother, who would rather see her take over her restaurant in the suburbs. Will the intimacy of the kitchen, with its family dishes and traditional recipes, finally enable them to communicate, understand and accept each other?

Stéphane Ly-Cuong is a screenwriter, director and actor. He studied cinema in Paris (Paris VIII, Scriptwriting Workshop at La Fémis) and New York (Brooklyn College). He has directed several short films, including Paradisco, Feuilles de printemps and Allée des jasmins (Jasmin Lane), the last two being produced by Respiro Productions. In his projects he likes to explore issues relating to the Vietnamese diaspora. He is also co-writer of Hiver à Sokcho (Winter in Sokcho) by Koya Kamura, screened at Premiers Plans in 2023, and De l'autre côté de l'été by Julie Gourdain. His acting credits include Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez and Thomas Lilti’s Hippocrate. He has also written and directed musicals (24 heures de la vie d’une femme) and was editor-in-chief of the website Regard en Coulisse for twenty years.
