Nathan Nicholovitch was born in Villeurbanne in 1976. In 1999 he set up the collective Les Films aux dos tournés. In 2000 he made his first short film, Salon de beauté, followed in 2003 by Chacun son camp. Gradually work as an actor moved towards the core of his interests. For this reason he set up L'Atelier aux dos tournés for professional and amateur actors. This was an opportunity for him to develop different acting methods and refine his directing techniques. In 2006 he started on Casa Nostra, his first feature and set up Casanostra Production with Céline Farmachi. In 2012, Nathan Nicholovitch made No Boy and decided to use this short as a base for his second feature.
"Casa Nostra is a family portrait. (...) Transcribing the emotion of the three characters is my main obsession in the direction, which is based mainly on the sequence shot, as this gives more time to the actors "to be" their character. This is what I like in film, I like to be with the protagonists for a given time. (...) The challenge is following them in what they offer and what cannot always be anticipated, getting life to mingle with the film and being ready to shoot, constantly being primed to create. (...) This film is an experience of constantly evolving creation. During the shoot, the performance is a priority, the possibilities for "twisting" the script created very rich matter for editing. It is only at this phase that I focus on particular characters and some of their relationships which come to the surface in Casa Nostra" Nathan Nicholovitch.
