Marianela Maldonado, born in 1972, is Venezuelan. In December 2000, she graduated with a diploma in screenwriting from NFTS. As well as writing for films, she works as a journalist, and writes for children's book and documentaries. While at film school she made Naptkin, 2000 and The Look of Happiness, 2002s, presented for competition at Premiers Plans. Breaking Out is her first short film since leaving film school.
