Born in 1988, Maxime Roy made his first short as a student, 1895, adapted from a Franz Kafka short story, followed by a second, La Beauté carnivore, which won the best film prize from the graduation film jury. With the production company Nouveau Cri, that he founded in 2011 with Jeremy Trequesser, he set up an actors workshop with which he then made a collective film, Même pas mal, which was realised only on VOD on Universciné. In 2018, he made his first short, produced by TS Productions, Beautiful Loser, co-written with François Créton. Arte broadcast the film and participated in his following short film, Sole mio, co-written with Gall Gaspard. He developed his first feature, Les Héroïques, with the same production company.
