Hubert Viel, 32, was born in Normandy. In 2000 he started studying cinema at ESRA, followed by philosophy at the University of Paris IV. He made his first, self-produced short film, Avenue de l'opéra, in 2007, shot in super 16. He went on to make several music clips before starting the production of Artémis, Coeur d'Artichaut in 2011, a film which he wrote, produced and directed. He is currently working on a feature project.
