Adieu Pays
Philippe Ramos
This is the story of two brothers, Vincent and Serge, and of a pretty cute girl, Carole, storming in their quiet village on her way to America. But that village is not as quiet as it seems... Some hurricane recently marked the landscape, rogues roam within the woods, hunters are prone to point their rifles at two-legged game, cliffs are slippery...When it becomes clear that Vincent is falling for this Calamity Jane, his brother is determined to keep his clan undivided, by all means...

Philippe Ramos is a self-taught person. As a kid in the Drôme (where he was born) he already shot movies in 8mm : remakes of Indiana Jones, science fiction movies... Later, but still in 8 mm, he adapted on the screen Madame Edwarda (from Georges Bataille). Meanwhile he worked in a arthouse theater in Grenoble where he discovered the movie classics. In 1993, he directed a short film in 16mm (Les îles désertes). In 1995, Vers le Silence, and in 1997, Ici-Bas are acclaimed by the critics. In 2000, L'Arche de Noé is selected in numerous festivals and is released in French theaters. Adieu Pays is his first feature film.
