Born in Bab el Oued, the most working-class area of Algiers, Rayhana left her native country and adopted France, where she has lived for several years. After training that the École des beaux-arts and then Institut national d'art dramatique et chorégraphique in Algeria, Rayhana joined the Béjaïa national repertory group as an actress and then as writer and director. She has acted in several films for the cinema and for television, and has directed several plays. She has received a number of awards at several festivals in Algeria, including Batna (best performance), Béjaïa (best show), Annaba (best performance) and Carthage in Tunisia (Special Jury Award). À mon âge, je me cache encore pour fumer is the first play she has written in French, and that she has adapted for the screen. In January 2011 her book Le Prix de la liberté was published by Flammarion.
