Mees Peijnenburg was born in Amsterdam in 1989. In 2013 he graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy. His graduation film Cowboys Janken Ook (Even Cowboys Get to Cry) premiered at Berlinale Generations 2014, was critically acclaimed and awarded several prizes. His creative style experiments with different narrative forms, in which his distinct visual style is constant.
