Hadrien La Vapeur was an assistant to Philippe Garrel for 10 years. In 2009, in Rio de Janeiro, he accidentally came across a possession ritual. The encounter with the spirits led him to investigate the relationships that humans can have with invisible entities.
An anthropologist trained in Nanterre, Corto Vaclav went to the Comité du Film Ethnographique, where he met Hadrien La Vapeur. The pair decided to found the multimedia collection Expédition Invisible with the idea of grouping together their work.
