Le Kiosque
Alexandra Pianelli

Alexandra has come to help out her mother, who sells newspapers in an upmarket Paris neighbourhood. From discovering the trade to the complicity that grows with a rogue's gallery of characters, Pianelli chronicles the world as it is. Like in a child's dream, playing shopkeepers … but the printed press and local shops are in a state of crisis, and things prove to be more complicated than planned!

Alexandra Pianelli is a graduate of the Decorative Arts of Strasbourg. She focuses her practice on the notions of work and play, likes the do-it-yourself and defines herself as a Swiss Army knife. Her work is based on a quest for the other. The one we don't see even if we live next door. She starts with a documentary approach in which reality joins fiction. For the past few years, she has been making films about her workplace (bread and butter jobs) where we see her both at work and in the process of making a film that this job allows her to do, as an artist, to no longer divide herself between searching for ways to live and time dedicated to art.
