Born in Versailles in 1971, Paul Saintillan studied literature and philosophy before going to La fémis in 1999, from where he graduated in 2002. As part of his studies he made several short films, including Margot mise à nu (2001) and La Vie est un singe (2002), both of which were presented at the Festival Premiers Plans. Cauchemar du promeneur solitaire, his first short film after leaving La fémis, was also presented in Angers in 2006. He is currently working on his first feature.
